        I would have mentioned the unusual circumstances which resulted in all four NSTs being sat in one day, but I reckon you’ve probably heard it all already.

          Yes, I’ve heard about Geoff neglecting to separate the pile of NST1s from the master copies, and the resultant embargo on discussing maths for the remainder of the camp. Hehe… Anyway, what’s this I hear about you having a program to inform you of any instances of people commenting on cp4space?

            It was a rather indirect result of me writing code to allow me to make submissions for the National Cipher Challenge via Python. Having written the code to handle my login details, I then decided to use it to monitor the forum there. I then extended the applet I created to monitor the cp4space comments feed too. This applet starts up automatically when my desktop computer goes on, and an envelope in the panel turns green when interesting stuff happens.

            Apparently it’s able to determine when someone comments, even on areas you don’t have access to. Is this correct?

    Yep. Ignoring the user interface, all my program does is download the page http://cp4space.wordpress.com/comments/feed/ and compare the update time to the one saved in a file.

      Incidentally, over-reliance on this meant that I’ve only just discovered that Stuart has solved several more ciphers (and overtaken me). Although its possible that he has only just done them.
